Avranches: the first Job Dating actu.fr, successful, calls for another

On Wednesday October 5, 2022, the Victor-Hugo room in Avranches (Manche) hosted the first edition of Job Dating, the actu.fr job fair.

To do this, the weekly La Gazette de la Manche, the daily La Presse de la Manche and the free newspaper Côté Manche had mobilized partners: the West-Normandy Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pôle Emploi and the Normandy Region.

300 people met

Nearly 300 people, looking for a job or retraining, met the twenty or so companies present.

At the bend of an alley, Aline, 60, has just moved near Granville. Recipient of the active solidarity income, it is through the Tandem system which follows her every fortnight in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, that she learned of this appointment.

Diverse and varied routes

I have a long experience in secretarial work. I am looking for a part-time job to be able to pursue my activity as an artisan. I make Japanese cushions for yoga and meditation.

Facing the head of a temporary work agency, two adult support trainers find out about job offers. “It’s an opportunity to meet potential partners,” they point out.

Looking for internships

In front of the Pôle Emploi stand, Carole from the business department meets visitors. There, she meets Gaëlle Petit, trainer at Greta d’Avranches. She is accompanied by Malika, 45, self-employed hairdresser at home near Villedieu.

“I’m looking for a permanent job, because today, I no longer make a living from my job”.

I no longer want to work in a hairdressing salon, but the job of market gardener tempts me.

At his side, Jérôme, 47, has already taken two cooking courses in the support structure of Avranches. A former employee on an integration project with Passerelles pour l’emploi, he worked in green and other spaces. “I like cooking,” he says.

A second edition in March

At the end of this afternoon, rich in meetings and exchanges, potential employers will study the CVs submitted directly by the participants or left on the mailbox dedicated to the event.

The organizers, for their part, are already thinking about a second edition. The dates of March 8 or 23, 2023 are already mentioned.

Job Dating in Fougères

In the immediate future, job seekers can go to Fougères, where our colleagues from La Chronique Républicaine are organizing their first Job Dating on December 1, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Town planners room. “We opted for an opening time of noon, comments Christelle Jamet, to allow people in activity to participate”.

“A local media is an actor in its territory”, emphasizes Ludovic Lemoine, director of La Gazette de la Manche. “It goes through the creation of events that energize it”.
