A UK nurse has been killed and her companion is fighting for his life after being mowed down by a 4×4 while on holiday in Mallorca.
Jennifer Worth tragically died at the scene, while her partner James Lawrie-Ashton remains in intensive care at a hospital on the Spanish island.
A female driver of an Opel Frontera rammed into the couple as they waited to cross a road on December 21 was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and reckless injury.
Paramedics desperately tried to revive Jennifer for almost an hour after the crash – but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene around 7pm on December 21.
Witnesses said the two victims, from Southampton, were thrown “high into the air” and landed several meters down the road.
Distressing footage showed paramedics performing CPR on Jennifer, while colleagues helped her injured partner a few yards down the road.

The driver – believed to be in her 30s – was released under investigation after being detained for more than 12 hours by cops.
She allegedly hit the British couple as they waited at a level crossing outside Palma Cathedral.
Tributes poured in for Jennifer, a former dental nurse, who was described as a “charming and bubbly” person.
Claire and James Taplin, who run ballroom and Latin dancing classes at a Southampton-based school where Jennifer practiced, spoke of their devastation.
A message posted online by CJ Dancing describes her as a “beloved student and friend”.
The message read: “Jennifer was one of the most uplifting, vivacious, funny and charismatic souls you have ever met and would light up any room.
“We were heartbroken to hear the news of her accident and we can’t imagine a world without her.”
They added: “Rest in peace my sweet daughter, dance with the angels, I love you.”
Her friend Judie Middlewick said: “I’m still trying to come to terms with her, she’s been completely on my mind since I heard the news.
“A lovely and bubbly person. You will miss your smiling face Jen. God bless you and dance with the angels.”
Dance student Ann Moore added: “Such sad news. I can’t really believe it.
“His bright and sunny personality will be missed by all of us in our Thursday class.
“Sincere condolences to James and his family.”
Gillian Klein said in a moving tribute: “I am so overwhelmed by this sudden news. She was so adorable.
“Condolences to his lovely partner and his family. What a loss.”
Jennifer, who had left dental care to start her own business, ran a Southampton-based property management company with James.
Spanish health sources said his partner James remains in a “serious” condition in intensive care at Son Espases Hospital in Palma.

It is unclear if James is aware of his partner’s death.
The couple danced together at regional ballroom dancing competitions.
