Afida Turner, “The Angels”… Coolio was also a reality TV star

DEATH – Sad day for rap. Coolio, to whom we owe the tube Gangsta’s Paradise, died this Wednesday, September 28 at the age of 59. The Grammy Award-winning musician died in Los Angeles, according to Jarez Posey, his longtime friend and manager. The cause of his death was not immediately known.

Endearing star of gangsta rap, Coolio has seen his popularity grow thanks in particular to colorful music videos. He then embarked on an acting career, notably landing a role in batman and robin in 1997 and making several appearances on television, notably in the seminal series of the 1990s A nanny from hell. But we have also been able to see it many times in reality TV shows, even French ones.

Indeed, in 2011, Coolio – Artis Leon Ivey Jr. in the civil status -, had made a remarkable appearance in the show The Angels of Reality TV 2, which took place in Miami. He had notably marked the spirits by kissing one of the participants, Monia, full on the mouth.

At that time, Closer had attempted the comparison between the candidate and one of the ex-girlfriends of the rapper, a certain Afida Turner, who also made herself known thanks to reality TV – the second season of loft story in 2002. Afida Turner remained in a relationship with the artist for three years in the 2000s. Today, the one who has remained her friend since their separation twenty years ago pays tribute to her: “ My God, Artis, no. stay in paradise “.

The lovebirds had even passed on the set of Thierry Ardisson to talk about their couple.

A regular on reality TV shows

In parallel with his life as an artist, Coolio himself participated in numerous shows. In 2004, attempting a comeback almost ten years after his hit hit, he left for Germany to do the talent show Comeback – Die große Chance (in English Comeback: The Big Chance). In 2009 and 2010, he also participated twice in the “celebrity” version of the Big Brother British, the format which had been adapted in France under the name of loft story.

In 2013, he also participated in the show Wife Swapduring which he has ” exchange ” his partner Mimi with another celebrity for a week.

The rapper even launched his own reality show in 2008 called Coolio’s Rules. This followed, for six episodes, the artist and his family in their everyday life in Los Angeles.
