Lenovo shows off its latest ThinkPad X1 and IdeaPad 5 laptops ahead of CES 2023 – CNET France


Lenovo can be counted on to announce at least a few off-the-beaten-track devices at CES. But before the annual tech show kicks off the January 5 in Las Vegasthe company unveiled a few more usual updates to its commercial and consumer computers and accessories.

Improved and durable ThinkPad X1 computers

On the business side, Lenovo will update its laptops ThinkPad X1 Carbonits two-in-one X1 Yoga and his X1Nano less than 1 kg with the
“latest generation Intel Core i7 processors with Intel vPro”. The X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga will also support up to 64GB LPDDR5 RAM. Additionally, they’ll get improvements to presence and privacy detection, posture and eye-wellness alerts, webcam enhancements like auto-framing and background blur, and OLED screens with settings designed to reduce power consumption.

This year there will be a lot of messages about the sustainable development from PC manufacturers, including Lenovo. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 features a wrist rest made from 90% recycled magnesium and a lower cover composed of 55% recycled aluminumwhile the X1 Nano Gen 3 is made from 90% recycled magnesium hydride in the palm rest and the bottom cover. The retail packaging is made up of 100% bamboo and sugar cane fibers.

New X1 models should ship in Aprilwith prices starting at $1,649i.e. approximately 1,550 euros after a simple conversion.

New monitors and a desk lamp with webcam

Lenovo also announced new monitors, including the ThinkVision P49w-30an ultra-wide screen of49 inches expected in June with a price starting at $1,699 (about 1,599 euros). New desktop accessories are also planned, the most interesting of which is the Lenovo Go Desk Station with webcam.

The Go Desk Station looks like a desk lamp. However, it is much more than that and could be a great solution for people with limited office space. The lamp is mounted on a rotating arm and at the opposite end of the lamp is an arm to which is attached a 4K webcam. This design allows you to easily illuminate your workspace or your face while using the webcam. The brightness and color temperature of the lamp are also adjustable.

The base of the lamp has a USB-C hub integrated with a 135 watt power input who can transmit 65 watts of power to a laptop. There is also an HDMI 2.0 output for connecting to a monitor. There is even a retractable shelf in the base with a 15 watt Qi wireless charger. It should be available in March to $329(about 310 euros).

Refreshed IdeaPad 5 laptops

For consumers, Lenovo announced updates to its laptop lineup IdeaPad Pro 5/5i and Slim 5/5i. Both models are available in 14 and 16 inches. Like the ThinkPads, they will be equipped with latest Intel Core processors Where AMD Ryzen. Pro models will be able to feature next-gen Nvidia graphics cards. Other updates include full-HD webcams, larger touchpads and improved displays, including OLED options and dynamic refresh rates ranging up to 120Hz.

16-inch IdeaPad Pro 5i expected to ship in May from $1,500 (about 1,410 euros). The 16-inch IdeaPad Slim 5/5i is also expected in May from $650 (about 610 euros) for AMD models and $750 (about 705 euros) for Intel models.

Lenovo also announced a new mini desktop pca 12-inch two-in-one Chromebook and the Tab M9a 9-inch HD tablet running Android 12which will be available in the second quarter from $140 (about 130 euros). You can read more about all of Lenovo’s announcements at CES 2023 at
