However, Stahelski is aware that a film with subtitles may be a hindrance. acknowledging that it can be difficult to do well at the box office with a subtitled film. But he hopes Ghost of Tsushima will be different. He said:

If you come to my offices in Manhattan Beach, I have entire walls and hallways depicting the best silent movies of all time. There’s a way to direct actors and a way to dramatically improve facial performance. So, if I mute the sound, I want you to know what the scene is about, regardless of the language.
