Like their leader, they learned jazz before becoming passionate about Rasta philosophy. Original Riddim, recorded on analog tape, tells the universal story of music, “opening the skies of possibility” and “broadening our minds endlessly” with guest appearances from two legendary bands from Jamaica. The clip was shot between Jamaica, New York, Texas, Florida and California. (Catherine Carette/FIP)

The beautiful part also in the dance

Dance and choreography obviously have an important place in this DARC Festival 2022.

On Monday August 15 at 8:45 p.m. Place Voltaire, the MyDNA Co. de Montpellier, founded by dancer and choreographer Audrey Bosc, will present “Instincts”, a piece for 10 dancers, which approaches dancehall, a street dance from Jamaica, with a new vision. Audrey Bosc has worked with composer François Ceccaldi, who has had a special relationship with dance for over 20 years.

The same day at 10:30 p.m., it was the turn of choreographer Jean-Claude Gallotta and his company to take over Place Voltaire for “My Ladies Rock”. It makes fourteen emblematic pieces from the history of rock music dance by the performers of the Groupe Émile Dubois. Poetic ballets, enraged with freedom, on the rebellious pieces of the queens of pop-rock culture: from Aretha Franklin to Patti Smith via Joan Baez and Tina Turner.

The unmissable end-of-training show

Like every year, all the trainees who participated in the 13 days of training meet on stage to present to the public their final show “Oxygène” directed by Michel Lopez. It will be Place Voltaire, Friday August 19 at 8:45 p.m.
