Concretely, what do the Gard cultural sites offer during these two days?

“The Château d’Assas (Le Vigan), the Departmental Archives of Gard (Nîmes), the Museum
of sacred art (Pont-Saint-Esprit), the Albert-André Museum (Bagnols-sur-Cèze) and the Pierre-de-Luxembourg Museum (Villeneuve-lez-Avignon) are opening their doors to the public to present their lasting heritage”, specifies the county council. The detail.

• The Château d’Assas in Vigan

Discovery of Assas Castlebuilt between 1751 and 1759, through visits and readings of
poems by Federico Garcia Lorca, as part of the exhibition of contemporary sculptures by Janine Delpeuch “Federico Siempre Vivo”, in the presence of the artist.

On the initiative of the Departmental Council of Gard, the Château d’Assas presents the work of the Andalusian poet and playwright in different forms.

Supported by the Centro Federico Garcia Lorca in Granada, this exhibition of sculptures by
Janine Delpeuch commemorates the work and life of Garcia Lorca through sculpted groups and terracotta pieces interpreting the heroines and certain poems of the “Romancero Gitano” and the “Poète à New-York”.

→ Guided sensory tour “Mirror my beautiful mirror”
○ What is beauty? Is the ideal of beauty the same in the Middle Ages and in the 19th century?

• The Albert-André Museum in Bagnols-sur-Cèze
→ Family workshop
○ Drawing inspiration from the plant forms present on the apothecary’s jars as well as on the painted tableware kept in the museum, visitors are invited to create an original work using an engraving technique accessible to all in the “De the flower to the leaf: family workshop”. Duration: 2 hours. Starting from 7 years old. Free within the limits of available places. Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.

→ The singular work “From Colette to Richarme, Passages” (last weekend of the exhibition)
○ From the donation of the artist’s daughters in 2008, a set of 6 paintings by Colette
Richarme (1904-1991) will be presented at the Albert-André Museum. Artist established in Montpellier, his original work is marked by his incessant research around color, between
representation and abstraction. Free access throughout the weekend during Museum opening hours.

• The Pierre-de-Luxembourg Museum in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon
→ Exhibition: “Le ton monte” by Valérie du Chéné (last weekend of the exhibition)
○ For the 5th consecutive year, the Pierre-de-Luxembourg Museum is taking part in the residency of
artistic creation produced in partnership with the FRAC Occitanie and several monuments in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon. The visual artist Valérie du Chéné is the guest of this new edition. Passionate about colors, she explores all the tones of the sky, the earth, the plant and the mineral through a plural and sensitive work. Vivid gouaches, sculptures in vibrant colors and color charts, his work enters into dialogue with the Museum’s collections. Free access throughout the weekend during Museum opening hours.

→ Visit of the exhibition by the artist Valérie du Chéné

→ Family workshop around the exhibition of Valérie du Chéné: “Colored Meteorites”
○ The artist presents at the Pierre-de-Luxembourg Museum 25 painted stones which organize the
color, arrange and order the feelings. They are dapper and colorful, beautifully
prepared. The visitor is invited to draw inspiration from it to create his own painted stones
stones will be available on site but visitors can bring their own (angular stones are needed, especially no round and smooth pebbles).
Duration: 1 hour. Starting from 7 years old. Free without reservation within the limit of available places.

→ “Flash” visit: “The Coronation of the Virgin” by Enguerrand Quarton
○ A “flash” visit around the “Coronation of the Virgin” by Enguerrand Quarton is
proposed. It will penetrate into the imagery of the 15th century: from colored angels to demons
hideous through the cities of Rome and Jerusalem. A half-hour trip to
decipher this masterpiece of medieval art. Duration: 30 mins. Free without reservation within the limit of available places. Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

• Sensitive natural spaces in the Gard
→ Discover the heritage trail of Saint-Sébastien d’Aigrefeuille
○ The municipality of Saint-Sébastien-d’Aigrefeuille wanted to enhance its heritage by
creation of an interpretation trail. This route is part of the local network of spaces,
sites and routes (RLESI), labeled Gard plein nature under community management
d’Agglomeration of Alès Agglomeration. This path is also included in the Plan
departmental office for walking and hiking routes (PDIPR), under supervision
work of the Agglomeration Community of Alès Agglomeration.
It will be inaugurated this Saturday, September 17 at 9:30 a.m.

And rediscover the 3700 km of trails and outdoor activity sites and the 18
sensitive natural areas.
