But go and tell his disciples and Peter. Mark 16. 7
The interest of angels for us
The angels of God are interested in the followers of the Lord. I do not doubt that they marvel at the love of God for them, and that they are more than amazed to see men so often sacrificing their greatest joys for sin, turning away from their Lord and even deny it, as Peter had done.
But still, with what keen interest and joy these angels must behold how graciously the Lord raises up those who have fallen. Of course, this is due to the fact that they have only one interest: the glory of the Lord. And the interest they show comes from seeing the love the Lord has for those who belong to Him. The angel would not have been so concerned about Peter if the Lord had not been concerned about him; and the angels would not be so concerned about you or me, about the way we live and about the things we pursue, if the Lord had no interest in us. “Are they not all administering spirits, sent to minister for those who are going to inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14).
Should we care less about each other than the angels care about us? Certainly not, and all the more so because we can do what they cannot do. They cannot bring back those who have wandered away; as far as we know, they do not participate in this work, but we are to “wash one another’s feet” (John 13:14, 15; see Galatians 6:1).
But suppose you have strayed and are secretly weeping for your estrangement from the Lord, while your brethren, as you suppose, are cold and indifferent towards you; you may think that no one cares about you. Let me tell you that although men seem to be uninterested in your happiness, angels are not; they are interested, and they are because their Lord is. The restoration of your soul to the joy of salvation and fellowship with the Savior is very close to their hearts, because they know it is the Lord’s desire, and because His glory is involved in it. Immediately banish from your mind the thought that no one cares about you, and that the words of the angel, to the disciples “and to Peter”, guide you on the path of repentance.
