The Pas-de-Calais slag heaps are definitely an inexhaustible playground. After skiing and hiking, these high dark hills now welcome yoga and sophrology classes.
Under the name of “Terils therapy”, the new season of the tourist office of Lens-Liévin offers several wellness appointments throughout the summer. The idea, to allow everyone to recharge their batteries in a setting that is as surprising as it is soothing.
If you don’t have the opportunity to go on vacation, these different workshops will allow you to breathe a little. First, soothe your body and mind with a “sophro-terril” session.
“For this sophrology session on the slag heaps, Yann (the sophrologist, editor’s note) does not suggest climbing to the top. He prefers to settle at the foot of the slag heaps, in a calm and quiet place, sheltered from the passage of other visitors. This place is accessible, even to people who have difficulty walking, to open the session to all. A moment to be considered as a break, more than a stroll, ”explains the tourist office.
On the program: breathing exercises, awakening of the senses, nature, calm and voluptuousness, an appointment where well-being and fullness take on their full meaning.
When ? Saturdays July 9, August 27 and September 24 at 10:30 a.m. – Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes. Meet in front of the Base 11/19 heritage-hiking café at the foot of Tower 19 in Loos-en-Gohelle.
Who says well-being, often says yoga. It is therefore quite natural that courses will be offered at the foot of the Pinchonvalles slag heap. “Laëtitia de Lens yoga offers you a real yoga session to achieve fullness and zen at the top throughout the summer. In addition, we do this in a pretty corner of nature on the Pinchonvalles slag heap under the amused gaze of the squirrels,” announces the tourist office.
When ? Wednesdays July 13 and August 3 at 10:30 a.m. Meet in the car park at the Pinchonvalles slag heap on the route d’Avion in Liévin.
But also hiking
It’s a great classic, but still a hit. Hiking on the slag heaps allows you to clear your head, while combining effort and breathing exercises. Two kinds of hikes are offered.
A night hike on the highest slag heaps in Europe. “A walk to discover history, fauna and flora with, if the weather is with us, a magical moment of contemplation: a sunset over the mining basin. To accompany you in this moment of plenitude, we set up a terrace for you (yes, yes, on the slag heaps) to enjoy a craft beer or a soft drink. »

The appointment is given early in the morning at the foot of the slag heaps. Hélène your guide offers you a gentle ascent. It’s time to awaken your senses, to listen to nature, to contemplate it, to admire it and to take advantage of this time that you are all offering yourselves together. »
