The top laptops at CES 2023: dual screens, 3D screens and a Twist

Laptops have been at the center of wearable technology for decades. Every year they come with a long list of new models with new features. Of course, some of its novelties are a resounding flop, but others become so popular that they change the way we interact with these devices.

ZDNET experts have rounded up the best CES laptops here. Some won’t hit the market for a few months, but others are on sale now.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2-in-1 Laptop

Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i is the first dual-screen OLED laptop. Each of its screens measures 13.3 inches, has a 16:10 ratio and is powered by Dolby Vision. Its Intel Core i7-U15 processors of 13e generation can support 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of storage.

The screens can be used in tandem, on top of each other, or side by side, depending on the user’s needs. Unlike other foldable laptops, the Yoga Book 9i still looks like a laptop, not a tablet connected to a keyboard. The Yoga Book 9i can be connected to a Bluetooth keyboard if typing on a touchscreen gets too weird.

The 2-in-1 laptop will retail for $2,100. It should be available in June.

Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Twist

Lenovo also announced a new model to its ThinkBook Plus series: the ThinkBook Plus Twist. The rotating screen of this laptop allows users to alternate between a clamshell or tablet position without compromising display quality.

This laptop is equipped with Intel Core 13 processors.e generation, a 13.3-inch OLED screen, a 12-inch e-Ink display, noise-cancelling microphones and improved wireless connectivity. According to Lenovo, the ThinkBook Plus Twist is ideal for mobile workers thanks to its versatile yet powerful features.

Lenovo expects the ThinkBook Plus Twist to be available in June, priced at $1,649.

LG Gram Ultraslim

LG’s Gram Ultraslim impressed with its ultra-thin and lightweight frame. This laptop weighs less than a kilo and is slightly thicker on one side to make room for ports, making it the lightest and thinnest laptop on the market.

The Gram Ultraslim’s small size doesn’t mean its specs are also tiny. This laptop features a 15.6-inch OLED display, 13-inch Intel Raptor Lake processore generation and a customizable storage space of up to 512 GB.

Pricing for the Gram Ultraslim is not available at the time of writing, but is expected to be announced next month.

Acer Predator Helios 18

Acer presented an impressive range of computers at CES this year, but also monitors for gamers. We were impressed with Acer’s Predator line, for its propensity to challenge the status quo in gaming laptops.

In particular, the Acer Predator Helios 18 won over laptop enthusiasts with its customizable 18-inch 16:10 aspect ratio OLED display, 32GB of DDR 5 4800 RAM and 2TB of storage. This laptop has a new thermal technology, an Intel Core i9 or i7 HX processor of 13e generation, a backlit keyboard and a free month of Xbox or PC Game Pass.

The Acer Predator Helios 18 will be available from April at a price of 1,699 euros.

Asus ProArt StudioBook 16

The Asus ProArt Studiobook is the first laptop that offers a 3D screen without dedicated glasses.

This laptop’s 16-inch OLED screen can bring anything to life with “Spacial Vision” technology. The ProArt Studiobook is for designers, animators, artists, and other creative professionals to help them see their creations from all angles, as the laptop can be rotated 180 degrees.

Powered by 13″ Intel Core i9 13980HX processore generation, this laptop is also equipped with an Nvidia 4000 series GPU, 64GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 8TB SSD.

As of now, it’s unclear when this laptop will hit the market or how much it will cost.

HP Dragonfly Pro Chromebook

For some tech enthusiasts, getting back to basics is key. Not too basic, sure, but just basic enough not to overwhelm with too many features. HP answers this need for functional simplicity with the Chromebook Dragonfly Pro.

This laptop features a 14-inch screen, 12-inch Intel Core i5-1235U processore generation, 16 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of up to 256 GB.

HP did not reveal the price or availability date for this laptop.
