Boar bristles and facial yoga5 beauty tips to steal from Meghan Markle
This Thursday, Netflix is broadcasting the second installment of the documentary series on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It’s high time to sift through the beauty secrets of the Duchess of Sussex in exile.
The six-episode documentary series “Harry & Meghan”, which began broadcasting on Thursday December 8 on Netflix, has already caused a lot of ink to flow before its release. Those who follow her can expect drama, tears, but also sweet moments in the royal couple’s relationship. Meghan is beaming with her signature, natural beauty look. But what are her beauty secrets? We conducted the investigation and made several discoveries.
1. Facial yoga instead of botox
Long before the TikTok craze (or the first meeting with her current husband Harry), Meghan Markle was already indulging in facial yoga on a regular basis. “I swear it works, as dumb as you may feel. The days when I do the exercises, my cheekbones and the contour of my jawline are much more defined”, she shared with the online magazine “Birchbox”, in 2014. If the lifting effect of facial yoga is not scientifically proven, specialists nevertheless recognize that it stimulates blood circulation.
2. A primer rather than make-up
Meghan’s freckles are one of her defining features. That’s why it was never a question of the Duchess hiding them with makeup. “I don’t wear foundation, except when I’m filming,” she said when she was an actress. On the other hand, she relies on Laura Mercier’s illuminating base, which, according to her own words, gives her skin a “dazzling and fresh complexion”.
3. An illuminator rather than a concealer
What Meghan took away from film sets is that concealer is relatively ineffective when it comes to looking awake at three in the morning. On the other hand, a touch of lightly covering illuminator placed in the inner corner of the eye works wonders. Its shimmering effect brings light to the face. Meghan’s favorite is the iconic Touche Éclat by Yves Saint Laurent.
4. A smoothie rather than a complexion illuminator
The complexion illuminator stays in the closet, if not to make dark circles under the eyes disappear. Meghan prefers to bet on vitamins to have a radiant complexion. La quadra is a fan of smoothies, a real health booster. Here are her three favorite recipes for a fresh complexion:
-
Apple, kale, spinach, lemon, ginger
-
Mango, lime, turmeric, coconut water
-
Protein powder, blueberry, cinnamon, chia seeds, almond milk, coconut water
5. A toothbrush instead of a comb
Finally, Meghan also shares a tip for having perfectly smooth hair. It’s true that no matter how hard you look, you can’t find an unruly hair on the duchess’s head. “I spray hairspray on a boar-bristle toothbrush to smooth out flyaways; it’s particularly practical for creating a smooth bun,” she says. Natural bristles are gentler on the hair than plastic, although they are normally intended for brushing teeth.
