“Coffee shop for human and fantastical creatures. » The inscription in orange letters on the front of this new tea room, opened since Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the heart of Old Mans (Sarthe), gives the idea of the atmosphere of the place.

Witches, cauldron and potions

Witches’ hats hung on the wall, candles, cauldron in the fireplace… customers are plunged into a universe tinged with witchcraft.

“I like everything that comes from the fantastic universe. Le Vieux Mans, the witches, it goes very well together”, smiles Gaelle Forveillemanager of Salem Cauldron.

The idea was to stand out with an atypical atmosphere. I wanted to offer something else.

In this place which was previously an art gallery, she soon plans to offer sessions of tales for children and scary tales for adults.

Obviously, Halloween will also be a highlight with animations in perspective.

Salty and sweet treats

“At lunchtime, I offer savory sweets – which I make myself – and sweet sweets all day,” says this pastry enthusiast who plans to change the menu regularly.

I want to share the things that I like and that you don’t necessarily find elsewhere.

The one who describes herself as “someone quite greedy” will also offer sweets and English pastries or even babkas (Russian buns).

On the drink side, there will also be “magic potions”.

She has worked in different fields

Before embarking on this adventure, the idea of which germinated about a year and a half ago, Gaëlle Forveille worked at McDonalds’s before becoming a childminder and turning to leather goods.

During the first confinement, my CDD was not renewed. I took the time to ask myself. And before the Covid, I had discovered La crêperie des Lutins, an atypical crêperie in Saint-Malo.

A discovery that inspired him with the idea of a place immersed in a fantastic universe.
