You too never received your letter of admission to Hogwarts ? You may be able to console yourself with this new school of witchcraft… French! Indeed, at thefall 2022the castle Le Rocher Portail, in Maen Roch in Brittany, will welcome its first class of sorcerer’s apprentices. Head for this most immersive experience!
As in the universe of JK Rowling, the students will be divided into four large houses!
Want to learn spells? A school of wizards will open its doors in a Breton castle, from October 22 to November 05, 2022.
As in the saga Harry Potter, admitted students will be welcomed in the Great Hall (350 square meters) by the Director of the said school, Ludovica Lutterotti. They will also be distributed in one of the four houses, responding to the name of Boucflèche, Fauvedor, Busarde or Cerfdelune. Each of them is inspired by the history of the castle and the different families who occupied it. For example, the first mentioned echoes the Boutrays, owners of the estate from 1866 to 2016.
Obviously, the personality of the students will influence the famous distribution:
- Intrepid people and competitors will go to Boucflèche
- The curious and the dreamers will be welcome in the house Cerfdelune
- The brave and the adventurous will integrate Fauvedor
- Mischievous people and pranksters will be sent to the Busarde house
A most amazing decor
Located between Rennes and Mont-Saint-Michel, The Portal Rock is a listed monument on a national level. The experience announced for the next school year is thus an opportunity to discover the rooms of the castle in a different way. Some have never been opened to the public! And for good reason: there are original furniture and tapestries classified as a National Treasure. Something to delight the most curious!
Note that the premises have been (re)decorated to better reflect the universe of JK Rowling and arouse the wonder of Potterheads.
“This kind of event allows us to highlight the local heritage that is too often forgotten”, comments Manuel Roussel, owner of the premises since 2016.
10,000 visitors are expected!
Live like a real wizard for an afternoon or an evening! In the program ? A complete visit of the castlethrough the dormitories, the potions room, the teachers’ rooms as well as the Great Hall reserved for banquets. You will have to pay between 25 and 30€ to take advantage of this 2-hour formula. Evening visitors will enjoy a meal, in the company of the teachers and the Headmistress of the school. Then, the evening ends with a sound and light show in the courtyard of the castle. This 3h30 formula costs 90€.
“We are expecting around 10,000 visitors over the entire fortnight. For banquets, for example, we hope to receive 3,000 people, at the rate of 200 people per evening.”explains Manuel Roussel.
Notice to interested parties: the ticket office will be open in September 2022 ! In the meantime, it is still possible to take advantage of the many events that take place within the castle, throughout the summer.
