If you’re a potential superhero or “super” in the super dark universe of The boys, you’ll want to graduate from Godolkin University’s Crime Fighting School. But first you will have to survive. The competition in the school is deadly and the vision of its infamous founder John Godolkin and Vought International’s mission is one million percent profit.
Generation VPrime Video’s long-awaited spin-off series The boysis a subversive take on the superhero-in-training narrative, with the biting satirical humor that makes The boys series a huge success. Generation V chronicles the Godolkin College experience of America’s next generation of supers “as they test their physical, sexual and moral limits, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.”
With hormones raging and out-of-control superpowers boosted by potency-inducing drug Compound V, we can expect an R-rated animal house slimy debauchery, hunger games battles for survival, and Carrie-level bloody collapses on the regular. Generation VThe first trailer for looks like a nightmare-fueled campus tour. A Sesame Street-inspired puppet gets his head ripped off. Soldiers prepared for war lie dead in the corridors. Although there is no official release date yet, Generation V will certainly be released on Prime Video sometime in 2023, probably before The boys‘ Season 4 release.

And from a bird’s eye view of the sprawling campus, God-U looks like a typical elite college, albeit highly selective exclusively for the next generation of superheroes or “supes.” Incoming student Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) stares in awe at the giant statue of Homelander on the lawn, oblivious to the danger that is sure to come. A puppet version of The Deep, with exposed gills and all, appears in a Sesame Street-inspired setting projecting wholesome normality while signaling that Godolkin U will be seriously screwed.
The hopeful collegiate mood soon turns decidedly somber. Next to an A-Train Turbo vending machine is a locked metal door with a fun but ominous sign that reads, “No Lookie Loos!” This area is monitored by security. Someone had written the word “murderer” on the door. Seconds later in the trailer, someone rips the head off a bug-eyed puppet that looks creepy to have blood and innards. Is this deeply strange puppet a supe? No time to dwell on it because there is a lot to reveal in this Generation V trailer.
Our Gen Vs and their superpowers are quickly spotted in bloody fashion. Marie Moreau is like Spider-Man, except bloody entrails or tentacles shoot out of her wrists. It seems Mary has a tragic story as she is shown in a bloody bathroom with her mother dead and bleeding on the floor. Marie had briefly appeared in season 3 of The boys as one of the orphan supes housed at Vought’s Red River Institute.
In quick succession, other Gen Vs display their unwieldy powers like flipping a car with their bare hands, knocking people through the air with psychic blasts, knocking down a door instead of using the doorknob like regular people , defeat the campus security of heavily armed soldiers. who have no chance and end up slaughtered in the school hall. A supe has the power to shrink ala Honey, I reduced the children and quickly finds himself trapped in a plastic cup. There’s no limit to the madness that can happen in this bloody but fun college adventure.
One of the sups to watch is Golden Boy, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, who only appears briefly in the trailer, shirtless in the forest and looking over his shoulder, grimly.
Like with The boys, Vought International will put a positive and healthy spin on its lucrative Godolkin University franchise. Interviewed for television, Marie is asked by the perfectly haired host: “Where did you find this kind of courage?” Mary says, “I’m superhuman, aren’t I? We are made of steel. More like blood and guts and tons of Compound V, from the looks of this riotous blood-soaked trailer.

Generation V stars Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) like Marie Moreau and Broadway lie (American Pie Presents: Girl Rules) as Emma Shaw.
