Toilet bound Hanako-kun

This is one of the manga that is seeing its popularity increase: Toilet Bound Hanako-kun will be perfect for fans of romance and the supernatural. His story takes place in the Kamome school, in Japan. A seemingly normal school that is the subject of rumours: it is “haunted” by seven different wonders. One of them would be the spirit of a schoolgirl, which would grant the wish of anyone who invoked it. This is what Nene Yashiro decides to do since after all her efforts to please the boy she is in love with, the feelings do not seem to be shared. So she decides to knock three times on the third door of the girls’ bathroom located on the third floor of the school. Yashiro manages to summon Kanado, who to his surprise is a boy! He agrees to grant her his wish in exchange for a very important asset: here they are both bound by a contract, and have a job waiting for them… This is the seventh volume which will be published in May.

BlackClover

This is the thirty-first volume of BlackClover coming out in May! A manga with surprising longevity, which takes up the codes of classic manga like naruto, One Piece or My Hero Academia. It tells the story of two boys, named Asta and Yuno, who were raised in an orphanage. They both seek to become the most powerful wizard in the land, the so-called Emperor-Mage. However… everything opposes them! Asta is very hot-blooded and has no predisposition to magic while the second shows surprising maturity for his age and is the hope of his entire village. When they turn 15, they both go to the grimoires ceremony: an essential tool for anyone who wants to become a magician. Yuno then receives a grimois with a four-leaf clover, synonymous with great power, while Asta… receives nothing. But at the end of the ceremony, a brigand tries to steal Yuno’s grimoire: Asta comes to his aid and, cornered, he receives help from a grimoire with a five-leaf clover. His quest to become Emperor-Mage can begin. For those who are more fond of anime, there is an adaptation of the first twenty-seven volumes with 170 episodes.

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War

We leave this time the fantastic stories filled with magic and demons to find a much more contemporary setting with Kaguya-Sama: Love is War. The manga, written by Aka Akasaka, follows the story of Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya. They are respectively president and vice-president of the Student’s office the Shûchiin Academy, a renowned private academy in Japan that trains future politicians and business leaders. In this first volume, a rumor runs about them: they go so well together that some believe they are a couple. A rumor considered as stupid gossip by the two students… But which seems to have impacted them since a psychological war ensues to force the other to take the first step. A story will be the red thread of the whole manga. A principle that is a hit in Japan since the series is in progress with 25 volumes published and an animated adaptation (produced by A-1 Pictures) whose 3rd season is currently broadcast in Japan.

Ao Ashi: the new Captain Tsubasa?

Decidedly, the manga around football continue to be a hit at the moment. Besides the manga Blue Lock which offers a formula mixing the round ball with the Battle Royale (and of which an animated adaptation is expected this year), it is Ao Ashi which receives special attention. We follow the adventures of Aoi Ashito, a college boy who is quite good at football and spotted by a mysterious stranger during an inter-college match. He was then invited to take selection exams to be part of the hopes of Tokyo City Esperio, a training center particularly recognized for its training of young footballers. Quite classically, Ao Ashi takes up the traditional codes and themes of shônen manga: surpassing oneself, the will never to give up despite the obstacles that seem insurmountable at first sight. And if we can expect an Olive and Tom bis, Ao Ashi cuts through his protagonist: endowed with a kind of power that allows him to predict actions in advance once per match, he mainly plays solo convinced of being essential to score goals. An attitude that he must work on throughout the manga, especially with his family but with other equally endearing characters.

The way of the apron

Did you like Sakamoto Days, released in April? The Way of the Apron should also please you, especially since it is the eighth volume which is expected during the month of May. It is written and illustrated by Kōsuke Oono. We follow the story of “Immortal Dragon“: the nickname given to Tatsu, a former Yakuza boss who has retired from the business of the underworld. It is to help his wife, Miku, that he becomes a homemaker. Cooking, cleaning and shopping… C he is the one who takes care of everything in the household to relieve his other half who has to work. A manga with comic scenes that will make more than one laugh: the various confrontations with the police or with small-time scammers are full of humor, while he does not forget his frequent confrontations with his former collaborators or rivals from his time as a thug. of five episodes was released on Netflix on March 11, 2021.
