Graines de rue festival in Haute-Vienne: art is public

24th edition of a festival which from year to year has been able to settle in the Limousin cultural landscape.

The Pentecost weekend is a traditional event in Haute-Vienne for all lovers of street arts. In the north of the department, Bessines-sur-Gartempe has been transformed into a giant stage and has been for nearly a quarter of a century.

This year the festival will take place from June 2 to 5.

For this 24th edition, we invite you to taste the always reinvented pleasure of emotions shared with all the teams present where curiosity, singularity, eclecticism and high standards will be honoured.

Françoise Trillaud, Artistic Director

rue seeds has everything of a great festival and despite everything it remains on a human scale, in a rural environment, anchored in a territory. It is also a family festival, the result of a program designed to appeal to all audiences. Amateur troupes rub shoulders with professional troupes from all over France and Europe. An objective is displayed: to honor street arts and creation in the public space with these words as a repeated slogan:

ART IS PUBLIC

During the 4 days of the festival, 21 companies and eight groups of young people will present their shows.

Thursdays and Fridays are traditionally reserved for students in establishments ranging from nursery to high school, not to mention the nursing home in Bessines-sur-Gartempe. During this 14th edition, approximately 2,500 students will be welcomed and 5,000 spectators are expected.

For this festival to exist 50 to 70 people including a large number of volunteers are essential.

Saturday 4 June at 4.00 p.m.

What the company says:

Toyo is a building site pipe, all cold, all stiff, all hollow… what a godsend! Coline the violinist, makes Toyo sing; all sorts of sounds seem to come out of him… Gillou tames Toyo, they immediately adopt and as Gillou is very, but then really very flexible, he slips inside and settles there like the Pagurus Bernardus… better known as the name hermit crab.

  • “WELL, LET’S GET BACK”, INTERNATIONAL COLLECTIVE OF MUERTO COCO

Saturday 4 June at 7.30 p.m.

“Bien, let’s resume” is situated somewhere between theatre, live music and radiophonic creation. Poetry mixes with humor and the absurd without ever forgetting the sensitive dimension.

What the company says:

A musician goes back to the first bar and replays the score of his life, the story of his quest to build himself musically, find his place, identify his limits and tame his doubts. Among other things, it talks about the dusty pedagogy of the conservatory, family meals, recorder and employment center advisers, “are-you-are-hot-Carcassonne?!!!!! and a possible reincarnation as an Atlantic blue lobster.
