Chantilly Arts & Elegance 2022, the state competition – AUTOMOTIV PRESS

A Concours d’Elegance attracts and groups cars by theme, class or category. For an organizer it is important to renew themselves in order to bring together different cars and thus constitute an ever more exceptional line-up. The Peter Auto teams have fully understood this, and no less than 17 classes are on the program for the Chantilly Arts & Elegance 2022 state competition. The public did not hide their pleasure and responded in droves, a real success which sits a little more the event and augurs a 7th edition to come just as magical.

With the centenary of 24 hours of Le Mans approaching, impossible not to celebrate by bringing together a few icons that have shone in Le Mans. I’m still under the spell CD Panhard of the 24 hours of Le Mans 1964

L’Alpine M64 of the’1965 editionwith 649 kg on the scale, it took a good dose of concentration to hold it at high speed on the long Mulsanne Straight!

A little more recent but no less beastly, the Ferrari 512M made his V12 howl in June 1971 without managing to cross the finish line unfortunately.

This Peugeot 905 Evo will have more luck, since it finished on the 3rd step of the podium in 1992, a race won by another 905, the number 1.

The past and the future in a single image! You will have recognized the 2 HispanoSuizathe original H6C Dubonnet Xenia from 1938 which wins the Best of the Show “pre-war” and its modern reincarnation, the Carmen which was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019 (read here)the last to be held in Switzerland.

In fact, here is the ideal garage, with just 2 cars: a practical and versatile utility vehicle for the week and a two-seater for weekend trips. Since the time I tell you that I am not difficult 🙂

A rare and beautiful Spaniard, the Pegaso Z102.

A buggy Meyer Manx from 1968 with clean lines with streamlined headlights and reduced windshield, it’s a change from the usual frogs!

From behind we suspect that she is not quite normal this Ferrari Dino…

…it is actually the 365 P triposti, like 3-seater, with the driver in the middle! But before you can drive it, the rims have to shine 🙂

Clubs are welcome on the lawns of the Chantilly Castleas in all events Peter Auto. It is thus several hundred cars that have found themselves, either by brand like this clan of Fordists

Either in a joyful mix of genres like here, a Bond Bug 3 wheels wedged between a Citroen Traction Avant renowned for its road holding and Amilcar proud of its balance and dynamism.

And in all club atmospheres, the lunch break is an opportunity to celebrate and share with friends, in a somewhat improvised way on a corner of the roof.

We end with the 3 big winners of this Chantilly Arts & Elegance 2022 state competition, the Talbot Lago T26 GS Barchetta Motto from 1950 was awarded the prize for the Best of Show of post-war cars, alongside it the Best of Show of pre-war cars theHispano Suiza H6C Dubonnet Xenia from 1938 and the Best of Show Concours d’Élégance at theAston Martin DBR22.
