Thimory – Workshops for “extra” children

Timory. Let’s go for the workshops of the Lab of the little extras. “We’re starting slowly,” announces Catherine Quach, president of the brand new association “Labo des p’tits extras”. Wednesday afternoon in the multipurpose room was held the first workshop of the association which is aimed at these so-called “extraordinary” children, from the age of 6, with a pervasive developmental disorder (autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysorthography etc.).

Develop their social skills

On the tables, material for artistic activities to experiment, discover, explore, exchange and have fun by offering them suitable leisure activities. “The objective of this association, recalls the president, is to offer activities intended to develop the creativity of these children, their ability to communicate, to express, to manage their emotions, to develop their social skills around various workshops such as as plastic arts, sensory workshops, theatre, dance, music, well-being, yoga, meditation. But also to offer group work to teach children to do things together”.

Catherine Quach, whose two children are the first to register for the workshops, is supported by Céline Merlin, treasurer and secretary of the association who wanted to get involved and give her time to these children. Herself trained in art therapy, she had already collaborated with the association of parents of students Chaprethy by creating cards for the benefit of schools.

The workshops take place every Wednesday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room. A participation of 6 euros per workshop is requested to cover the purchase of supplies. The number of places per workshop is limited and depends on the number of volunteers to supervise the activities (membership of the association 25 euros).

The association has already planned about twenty workshops (outside school holidays) until the summer holidays.

The next workshop will be held on January 18: “And you? Who are you ? (how I perceive the other).
