The annual meeting of the Dojo de Martimpré took place this Thursday in Gerbépal for the members of the club who gathered around their president and teacher Eric Havez. The latter was thus able to draw up an assessment of the year which has just passed with the satisfaction that the numbers are maintained despite the COVID period, thus counting around sixty practitioners spread over 5 activities: the martial part with Aikido and Iaido (sword practice), Qi Qong, Taichi and meditation. The club is in a growth phase and is now just waiting to take off.
Last season has already made it possible to consolidate a solid base and to host various training courses which have contributed to punctuating the life of the club: a first training course with a national executive; the reception of a training course dedicated to Aikido teachers wishing to move towards a certification of supervision of people affected by a disability; and finally welcoming several national executives who took the opportunity to visit the premises. So it was a recovery connected to the outside » to use the words of Eric Havez, a dynamic that the teacher wishes to develop for all the disciplines offered at the dojo.
Regarding the prospects for the season which has just begun, Eric Havez wishes to be able to organize an official inauguration of the dojo in the presence of national executives and why not foreign delegations. An Iaido course is also in the pipeline with Jean-Jacques Sauvage who had already walked the dojo tatami last year in a different setting. The traditional open days as part of Women’s Day will be renewed and another open day should also be set up. Finally, concerning activities outside the dojo, an agreement has been signed with an association that welcomes people with mental disabilities. Eric Havez leads this collaboration and travels every fortnight to meet this audience.
