Steps to cleaner, healthier skin
1) Lower your stress level through prayer and meditation
Stress creates hormones that actually age us because they destroy cells and create toxic bi-products and free radicals. Studies have shown that prayer and meditation can reduce our stress levels. It has been proven that prayer and meditation can even alleviate some of the symptoms of cancer and other deadly diseases.
2) Drink plenty of water
It’s a fact that 90% of us don’t drink enough water. For skin cells to function properly and heal well from cuts etc. we need to drink 8-12 glasses of water a day. Our skin is one of our most important organs because it protects us from illnesses, cushions our falls, etc. It needs a lot of water.
3) Sleep properly
If you don’t sleep 8 to 10 hours a day, your skin will suffer. Broken capillaries, puffiness, dark circles under the eyes.
4) Eat well. Have an adequate diet
Too much junk food can cause or worsen skin problems like pimples and acne. A well-balanced meal three times a day has been proven to help lessen the spikes in skin problems and even out breakouts of acne vulgaris.
5) Take vitamins to supplement your skin and body
It’s not always possible to ensure that the foods we eat contain 100% of every vitamin and mineral, but we can take a multivitamin once a day. They’re cheap at Walmart and you have no excuse. People who take multivitamins once a day live longer. It’s a proven fact, just like people who smoke lose years of their life.
6) Clean your skin properly
Harsh soaps can dry out your skin and even stimulate sebum (oil) production, which can make acne worse. Use a mild cleanser containing 2% salicylic acid. This product has proven to be very effective in eliminating excess sebum while maintaining correct hydration and pH. The slight acidity will keep bacteria at bay.
7) Don’t smoke. Smoking makes you age
Literally, smoking can add 10 years to the aged look of your skin. Why would you want to do this? If you must use nicotine, get nicotine gum or patches – they will relieve your cravings and there is no evidence or statistics that anyone has developed cancer, lung disease , etc… because of this.
8) Wear sunscreen
The skin has keratonin to protect itself from the sun’s rays, but it’s not up to the UV rays we expose ourselves to. Melanoma has many forms and all of them are fatal. If you think you won’t get skin cancer or you’re invulnerable, just go to your local dermatologist and ask to see pictures of clients with skin cancer of this type, or better yet, go to the center of oncology at your local hospital. You will never think that way again. Wear sunscreen.
9) Treat yourself to a spa treatment at least once a year
Peels, TCA peels, deep tissue massages, full relaxation, aromatherapy, etc. will energize and heal your skin. TCA peels will improve your skin’s ability to regenerate and improve collagen levels.
Remember, follow these nine steps to enjoy healthier skin.
