It’s also summer on the canal! | M+, news from Mulhouse

We have already talked about it here and there: the Mulhouse summer promises to be very lively, with a rich program that mixes cultural, sporting and festive proposals… Since this Wednesday, it is also possible to sail on the Rhône-Rhine canal, while waiting for a weekend that promises to be lively on the Square du Mise side!

Have you always dreamed of taking on the role of Merrill Stubing, the famous captain of the Pacific Princess, in the series “The Fun Cruise”? Say no more! Since this Wednesday, it is possible for everyone to navigate on the Rhône-Rhine canal, at the helm of an electric boat without a license or a pedal boat. “It’s a slow tourism, conducive to meditation, we really ask ourselves”, says Emmanuelle Suarez, Deputy Mayor for Events and Tourism. Departing from the pontoon adjoining the Square du Musée de l’impression sur étiffes, it is thus possible to reach, along the water, the Fonderie bridge or lock 41, at a cruising speed of 6 km/ h, ideal for observing the city from a new angle.

River program

And for those who wish to go further, the company Alsace Plaisance, which rents electric boats, also offers four-hour excursions, always by boat: “On Saturdays, we bring up to seven people towards the Bouc bridge, on Sundays, we cross six locks to the collegiate church and the Zillisheim swing drawbridge”explain Maryeve and Stéphane, from Alsace Plaisance. “Year after year, step by step, we are making progress in our river program, which links activities related to water and riverbanks”welcomes Emmanuelle Suarez.

Guinguette and artisan market

In this case, the banks of the canal promise to be lively, especially at the Square du Mise, which hosts the gourmet guinguette “Michelle’s Garden”, until August 31. Better, from this weekend (9-10 July) and the last two weekends of July (23-24 and 30-31), it is the association L’Artichaut which will invest this same square with a market of craftsmen-creators. “It will be more than a market for creators, people will have the opportunity to have a good time, with music and artists from the region”confides Déborah Messina, co-founder of the association.

“Sit down and enjoy”

The entertainment program is indeed rich with, this Saturday, a badge creation workshop, a participatory fresco with Joan or a DJ Set by Seb du Bollwerk. Sunday, the creators’ market continues, with, in parallel, the realization of a live fresco by the graffiti artist Nico119 and a concert by Marie Gelis at the end of the afternoon. “During the next two weekends, we will also have a stroll through the city center with the Chat’pitre company, a DJ set by Mambo Jumbo, a concert by the duo El Morikhône, portraits taken live by illustrators, continues Deborah Messina. We also do this for Mulhouse residents who do not go on vacation. The goal is to create moments for people to sit down and enjoy! »
