On Fridays on Info Tours we select a series of outing ideas that we like for the weekend. And there is a big hairy program. Here are our favourites…

In the ground…

Saturday the Botanical Garden of Tours puts on the colors of Japan with animations and workshops around the art of living in the garden, with the collaboration of local associations and specialized companies. Various workshops and presentations will be offered: introduction to Japanese, conferences, introduction to zazen meditation, introduction to Shiatsu, martial arts, sale of books, calligraphy, cooking classes, tea tasting, cosplay, Japanese catering on site… you from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (free entry).

For almost 30 years in Montlouis, the Château de la Bourdaisière has housed a tomato conservatory cultivating no less than 700 varieties, from the most common to the most original. Yellows, greens, blues and violets, blacks… and reds, because you still need them. And every year at the start of the school year, the monument and its park host a big two-day tomato party. It’s Saturday and Sunday with a 24e edition which will also be devoted to paprika, with conferences devoted to the mixture of these two flavors. For green thumbs, conferences will be led by Nicolas Toutain, the castle’s head gardener. For gourmets, a tomato bar awaits them with tomato recipes, from appetizer to dessert. Admission €7.50, free for children under 10.

And then Sunday further south, the Château du Rivau offers a festive and gourmet day with its Pumpkin Festival. Les jardinières du Rivau will provide you with advice and gardening tips. For the youngest, La Case à Gourdes will host a calabash decoration workshop. Games, pumpkin workshops, photobooth and make-up will also be offered to families. And we can participate in a contest to estimate the weight of a huge pumpkin. Add to that music, circus with the Cie FouxFeuxRieux, the puzzles of the puppets of Cirque Heka or stories. Canceled at the end of June due to drought, the fireworks planned at the Château de Cangé in Saint-Avertin will take place this Saturday evening from 9.30 p.m. at the guinguette on the banks of the Cher.

And then the Community of communes Around Chenonceaux Bléré Val de Cher offers the nineteenth edition of the street arts festival “Jours de fête” in Luzillé on Saturday and Bléré on Sunday with the theme of travel: carousel trip for the most children, participatory odyssey with RAD’O2 for older children, travel in space and time… Free access. At the end of a week of residence, we will be able to discover the show The dotted line this Friday at the Temps Machine in Joué-lès-Tours.
