Death Of Bernard Giraudeau: The Discreet Tribute Of A Close Friend 12 Years After His Death

Saturday July 17, 2010, Bernard Giraudeau died at the age of 63 following cancer. On what would have been his 75th birthday, one of his friends paid tribute to him on Twitter.

It was twelve years ago… Saturday July 17, 2010, Bernard Giraudeau is 63 years old. In 2000, cancer had forced the actor to undergo the removal of the left kidney. Suffering from a lung metastasis five years later, he was forced to slow down his activities. After devoting part of his time to helping patients by supporting the Institut Curie and the Institut Gustave-Roussy, it was at the Georges-Pompidou hospital that he took his last breath. Saturday June 18, 2022, Bernard Giraudeau would have been 75 years old. For the occasion, his friend, actor Daniel Russo shared a photo on Twitter. In the caption, he wrote: “Happy birthday my dude!!!“Touched, a user replied:”What a wonderful actor. He is missing so much… Thank you Daniel for this beautiful thought!“

A few months before his death, Bernard Giraudeau spoke about his illness in the columns of Release. He then confided:We will see how things will develop (…) The problem is that heavy chemo treatments tend to take a bit of your life away. So we wonder: if it is to continue to live with this vision…“After assuring that he no longer wanted to have surgery, the actor explained:”Suffering is exhausting, very exhausting. After a while, it allows you… to do nothing else. You live in it. The most painful thing is fatigue. Even talking takes effort. Eating requires a colossal effort, every day. Not throwing up, not losing weight, everything is exhausting. Fatigue, you can not do anything.“

Gaël Giraudeau: “My father’s serious problems have calmed him down a lot”

During this interview, Bernard Giraudeau had lifted the veil on what helped him on a daily basis. “Meditation, relaxation, and then my surroundings. My wife, my children who are very loving… You realize that you have little left in life…“, he had revealed. Shortly after his death, in an interview granted to Paris Matchhis son, Gaël Giraudeau had declared: “My father’s serious problems have calmed him down a lot, they have opened him up to others. The disease allowed him to clarify certain points of his existence. (…) It was a wonderful time to live.“
