The video portrait of Bishop Christian Delarbre
Asked by KTO when he was appointed, Bishop Christian Delarbre underlined “the joy of becoming pastor of a diocese” and “a moment of abandonment before the unknown of the task”. Since 2018, Bishop Delarbre was rector of the Catholic Institute of Toulouse. His area of research is in ecclesiology and theology. His thesis in theology defended in 2007 focused on the “Theology of place: for a Church on an urban scale”.
In 2017, Bishop Christian Delarbre was the guest of Faith Taken at Word, on the bishop. On the KTO set, he said: “The function of the bishop is rather the one who is a servant, he is the servant of the communion of the Church”. It emphasized visits to parishes by bishops to “allowing all his faithful of the Catholic Church to be in contact with the whole Church, he ensures this concrete communion. A parish, no matter how small, is connected with the universal Catholic Church”. If at that time, these words were informative, it gives to see the vision of his future role.
A native of Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne), Bishop Chrisitan Delarbre was ordained a priest in 1996 for the diocese of Auch, after studying engineering at the École centrale de Lyon and military service in Burkina-Fasso. From 2012 to 2018, he was vicar general of the diocese. From 2013 to 2019, he was provincial responsible for formation for the permanent diaconate and also episcopal delegate for information.
