Apple Fitness+, Apple’s fitness service, will propose new exercises that will allow users to improve their general well-being in the new year. So starting Monday, January 9, the service will introduce a new type of Kickboxing workout, a brand new sleep theme for meditations, a spotlight on artist Beyoncé, new Time to Walk guests and new coaches.
“No matter where people are on their health and wellness journey, Fitness makes it easy to get started and stay motivated with workouts and meditations that are welcoming to everyone”said Jay Blahnik, vice president of Fitness Technologies at Apple. “That people want to boost their cardio with the new type of training, Kickboxing; skip to the latest Beyoncé hits; or winding down before bed with a meditation, there really is something for everyone to take care of their body and mind in this new year”he adds.
Kickboxing and new trainers
Kickboxing exercises can help build full-body fitness and are a great way to build strength, endurance, coordination, and balance. Starting January 9, Fitness+ will add Kickboxing as a new type of full-body cardio workout. Each workout consists of a sequence of separate movements followed by a final sequence that will combine the movements that users have just learned in a total interval of one minute. No equipment is required and workouts will last 10, 20 or 30 minutes.
Kickboxing will be led by two coaches: Jamie-Ray Hartshorne, who users know and love from treadmill workouts, HIIT and Time to Run, trained in Muay Thai and competed professionally in Thailand. Additionally, Nez Dally will join the coaching staff to lead kickboxing workouts. The Muay Thai fighter made history when she became the first woman to compete in Thailand wearing a hijab. In her workouts, she brings the motivation of a top athlete to empower users to achieve every shot, cross and kick. Other trainers will join Fitness+ during the month.
New meditation theme, Sleep
Meditation on Fitness is designed to help users release tension and anxiety. A brand new meditation theme, Sleep, will be added to the meditation library, joining the existing nine themes, including Calm, Gratitude, Resilience, and Creativity. This library is designed to make the practice of meditation more powerful and useful than ever. New Sleep meditations will be added each week, and each session can be integrated into a decompression or sleep routine.
In addition, to help users get started with sleep meditations, a new program, “Introduction to Meditations” for sleep, will be launched. The program consists of four 20-minute meditations that end with five minutes of relaxing music. These meditation sessions, which can be followed in any order and at any time.
Featured Artist with Beyoncé
The Featured Artist series – which dedicates an entire workout playlist to a single artist – is enriched with new workouts featuring Beyoncé’s music, including songs from her latest album, RENAISSANCE . Fitness+ will also feature two new Artist in the Spotlight collections, featuring the Foo Fighters on Monday January 16th and Bad Bunny on Monday January 23rd.
