ALTERMUNDI, a first store in Bordeaux » PACA’s economic and political newsletter

Opening on Thursday June 24, 2022 – 77, rue Porte Dijeaux.

After covering Paris with a network of 12 stores, Altermundi opens its first address in the region. It is in Bordeaux that the eco-responsible concept-store begins its national deployment. Next step: scheduled inaugurations in Lyon and Strasbourg in 2023.

The new landmark of responsible trade in the heart of the city Altermundi relies on the proximity and dynamism of city centers. In Bordeaux, the brand is setting up in a historic and commercial district. “We immediately fell in love with Bordeaux city center,” says Thibault Ringo, CEO of Altermundi. There is a sensitivity here close to our values and we want to quickly become the benchmark for responsible trade. »

To achieve this, Altermundi is thinking big. The brand is inaugurating its largest store here, run by a team of 6 employees. Experts of the green, they present a selection that meets different commitment criteria.

On the home side, the offer ranges from tableware to household products, including decoration, groceries and zero waste. Craftsmanship and upcycling have pride of place, as do organic and vegan products or even made in France.

In the fashion department, sourcing is 100% ethical, with clothes and accessories, for women, men and children, to whom Altermundi also dedicates a proposal for games and creative hobbies, which combine intelligence and good manners. Lastly, the beauty/wellness and leisure departments are expanding with the entry into the children’s make-up collection and a full range around yoga and meditation. In short, a real destination for everyday and exceptional gifts to indulge in conscience and discover the latest sustainable innovations.

A sustainable and local retail concept

However, there is no question of arriving on conquered ground. Altermundi worked with a Bordeaux architecture firm, to apply the retail concept to the region, but also to favor local materials and companies. As architect François Lepeytre of the CMJN workshop explains: “This new boutique extends and adapts to Aquitaine the principles developed by Altermundi in Paris. In accordance with the brand’s philosophy, the implementation was as qualitative and sound as possible, with the choice of sustainable supplies and materials, at least French, if not local.

More specifically, the project gives pride of place to Landes pine and the fern leaf pattern typical of 19th century Landes houses. It also blends into its environment. The four windows have been designed to harmonize with those of the Mollat bookstore opposite, with coordinated moldings and the choice of orange to contrast with the emblematic blue of this Bordeaux institution. »
