Seven Deadly Sins, Moonrise… here are the anime presented by Netflix during Tudum Japan

On the occasion of the event Tudum Japan which took place this weekend, anime fans were able to attend many advertisement of all kinds, mixing both novelties and sequels of some of the streaming platform’s flagship anime. We also revealed to you yesterday that Onimushathis famous video game from Capcom, was going to be entitled to its anime adaptation. But the fact is that many other anime were presented during this event. Here is a selection of the titles that we found during this year’s Tudum Japan.

Netflix has been tapping into the vein of anime for a few years now, offering more and more original productionsamong which we find from time to time a few small nuggets. The latest is none other than the animated adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077the famous video game from CD Projeckt RED, then titled Cyberpunk: Edge Runners, which transports us to a city of Night City as violent as it is engaging. There was also the adaptation of Bastard!!whose the second part of season 1 was released earlier in the month.

And Netflix seems determined to continue exploiting the breach, evidenced by the many announcements that we could find during the Tudum Japan event. Fans were thus able to discover that the streaming giant had multiple projects in progress, some having even been announced for 2024. Onmyoji

Adapted from the novels of the same name by Baku Yumemakurathe story takes place in a fictional Japan during the Heian era. We find there Abe no Seimei, an onmyoji (ie: title held by government officials in ancient Japan, especially those who were specialists in occultism, magic and divination) who really existed. Whether Onmyoji sign there its very first adaptation in anime, the series of Yumemakura had already given rise to various adaptations in the past, in particular two films directed by Yojiro Takita, released respectively in 2001 and 2003. The anime will be produced by Marvy Jack studiowho will also produce the next film The Seven Deadly Sins.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh

The famous franchise The Seven Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki returns in a new format. Entitled The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh (Nanatsu no Taizai: Ensai no Edinburgh in OV), this animated film will be divided into two parts, and is produced by Marvy Jack and Afred Imageworks. The story transports us fifteen years after the events of the series, and will offer us an original story centered on the character of Tristanwho is none other than the son of Meliodas, aka the Dragon of Wrath, and Elizabeth, Princess of the Kingdom of Liones.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh – Part 1 will be available from December 2022.

Moonrise

Probably one of the announcements that most interested anime fans, since Moonrise is nothing else that the next project of Tow Ubukata and the famous Wit Studiothe latter being known in particular for The attack of the Titansbut also Vinland Saga, Ranking of Kingsand more recently Spy X Family and the movie Bubble. The project will be directed by Masashi Koizukato whom we owe seasons 2 and 3 of The attack of the Titansbut we can also find Hiromu Arakawa for character designwho is none other than the creator of Fullmetal Alchemistor The Heroic Legend of Arslan. For the moment, we do not yet know if this project will be a film or a series, Wit Studio having simply specified that the project would take place “in the near future taking place on the Moon and on the Earth”. here’s how George Wada, President and CEO of Wit Studiopresents the project:

Moonrise will feature two men, Jack and Al, as they face various hardships in the vast world of outer space. All actions and scenery in the unexplored parts of the Moon will be illustrated using an innovative type of animation like never seen before. My sincere wish is that this project will inspire contemporary lives all over the world.

Moonrise will be available from 2024.

next year’s surprises

Many other projects have been announced, like the anime My Daemon (Boku no Daemon in VO), or even Make My Dayan animated film scheduled for February 2023 adapted from an original story by mangaka Yasuo Ohtagaki (Moonlight Mile). We were also able to discover the horror anime release date Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabrescheduled for January 19.

Finally, fans have also learned that the sequel to certain anime on the platform has indeed been confirmed, with for example season 2 of The way of the apronscheduled for January 2023or that anime Aggretsuko was going to be entitled to its fifth and final season, which is scheduled for release in February 2023.
