Astrological signs, compatibilities and incompatibilities

L’astrology is trendy, to the point that it is used for everything and, sometimes, anything … As well when it comes to friendship, romantic relationships but also to hire! Without sinking into excess or obscurantism, we are interested in astrological compatibilities …

What is astrological compatibility for?

Astrological references flourish on dating sites, and astrology would be used by some HR during recruitment… Proof that when it comes to the stars and interpretation, drifts are never far away. “Astrological compatibility should be used forward, not forward!”insists Mathilde Fachan – author of “Does the Zodiac have a sex?”* – who recommends using astrology (and astral compatibility) rather to validate an observation or clarify a situation. “I doubt that imposing it in the first place will bring anything positive or constructive”.

Astral compatibility, some basics

All things considered, we can however establish some links and bridges between different astrological signs. Thus, it is customary to say that the signs belonging to the same elements and form “trigons” on the star wheel (angle 120°) experience a strong harmony:

• The fire signs are Aries, Lion and the Sagittarius. Fire is the element that refers to a will to command.
• Earth signs are Capricorn, Bull, Virgin. The Earth is the element of the material anchoring of construction.
• Air signs are the Balancethe Aquarius and the Gemini. Air is the element of communication and adaptation.
• Air signs are the Cancerthe Scorpio and the Pisces. Water is the element of fertility and metamorphosis.

Another connection that can be established? The one between the signs belonging to the same polarities, which form sextiles on the astrological wheel (60° angles). Thus Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Aries – known as extroverted signs – will tend to understand each other better. Ditto for introverted signs, namely Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces.

What the stars foretell of the tensions between the astrological signs…

On the other hand, the signs which form ‘squares’ (angle at 90°C) on the astrological wheel and which, in fact, belong to the same modes (cardinal, fixed or mutable), would feel tensions and divergences of vision or strategy … This is the case of the 4 cardinal signs, namely Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, it is also the case of the 4 fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius ) or the 4 mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). Another clue to take into account when trying to anticipate tensions? Signs 180° apart – and therefore diametrically opposed on the astrological wheel – will tend to attract each other like magnets. Nothing alarming, except that this attraction would also be a source of tension. Opposing signs?
