130 artists and 80 performances: this 7th edition of the aptly named FARSe, for Street Arts Festival, has everything to seduce regulars and passers-by taken aback by the presence of a show around the corner. From August 13 to 15, 29 companies will sweep through Strasbourg city center and its surroundings. “Strasbourg also stands out by letting artists choose to occupy the places they want in the city. They have no obligation to perform in specific places as can be done elsewhere, ”says Guillaume Libsig, deputy mayor in charge of entertainment. 17 different sites will host artists in Strasbourg.

The red thread of its three days is on everyone’s lips when presenting the program: “Getting closer”, announces Lucile Rimbert, of the lu2 association, and artistic director of the festival. “The street show makes it possible not to be constrained as in a room. It’s 360 degrees. There is no privileged point of view to enjoy the show, ”she assures. A state of mind to be found in Façade by the Bougrelas company, whose history is revealed through the windows of a house.
Margou Chou proposes I took refuge there, there, there… which is intended to be a sprawling narrative evoking the life paths of migrants and uprooted people. La Bande à T-Rex organizes a musical cycling ballet: “A tingling of wheels, an effervescence of vitality”, describes the company. In the sound department, we can also listen to creations by Rue de la Casse, with its 1962 Vauxhall Cresta transformed into a musical vehicle, a reminder of the imagination of children’s toys.
The highlight of the show on Sunday August 15, for the closing, will be a monumental and aerial show by the Gratte Ciel company with flying angels above Place Kléber. “Feathers, tons of feathers that the public seizes with both hands to better distill their happiness”, promises the company. The tribute to Freddie Mercury should also gather the public. Called Queen-A-Man and provided by a team of elegantly dressed male cheerleaders, mustaches at the end of their noses and twirling sticks in their hands.
The young public is also sure to enjoy it, with for example the FARSe des minis at Heyritz Park and its dance, acrobatics and music shows, accessible from an early age. Or funnier, a parade of strollers for children from 1 to 4 years old announced as a joyful cohort of songs and theater from the Entre Chien et Loup company.
The few days prior to the festival also promise a few surprises with impromptu where artists will tumble onto a market, at a tram stop or even in a socio-cultural center “without warning”. “It will be to awaken the eye and arouse surprise”, assures Lucile Rimbert.

Nothing seems to be able to stop this meeting which returns to the streets for the seventh time. Except the weather. Or the pandemic. Here again, the City, which had to carry out counts and “park” spectators in closed spaces in 2021, is delighted with a newfound freedom. “It’s one of the Strasbourg events that attracts people from afar for its programming”, assures Guillaume Libsig. “We have real expertise in the field, underlines the elected official, I have colleagues from other cities who call me for advice on the organization of this type of entertainment. »
After two years of Covid and distancing, will the public respond? “We hope that the public will be there. We have a fairly significant hope that it will resume: we see this need to celebrate that only art and culture can give. »
