Hulu has yet another massive true-crime project in the pipeline following the streamer’s recent string of success in the genre. Per Variety, his latest docuseries, Stolen Youth: In the Cult of Sarah Lawrencewill show the various cases of abuse and manipulation suffered by the students of Sarah Lawrence under larry ray in 2010. The original series is scheduled for release early next year with Zach Heinzerling directing and executive production.
Stolen Youth tells the story of Sarah Lawrence College abuse directly through Ray’s victims. At the time, Ray was living with his daughter in his college dorm and began manipulating a group of students, completely turning their lives upside down as he lured them into his sex cult. According to the official description, Hulu participates exclusively in the narrative of victims of mind control and abuse that occurred in plain sight under Ray. He has since been convicted of 15 counts, including sex trafficking, violent assault and money laundering, and could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
This won’t be the first time the abuse at Sarah Lawrence College has been the subject of a documentary. Peacock jumped onto history in September with the feature film Sex, lies and college worship of Robert Palumbo explore troubling details. Henzerling has done a lot of legwork to make his telling of Sarah Lawrence’s story worthwhile. His docuseries are the culmination of three years of research and filming with victims as they begin to process what happened to them.
Heinzerling will also have a strong production team at its disposal for the docuseries. The Story Syndicate team, which won an Oscar for the 2017 documentary Icarus, will be the executive producers of the series. Individual executive producers include And Cogan, Liz Garbusand Jon Bardin.

Stolen Youth comes on the heels of Hulu’s biggest docuseries to date – God Forbid: The sex scandal that toppled a dynasty.
