Will there be a sequel to Black Panther 2?

Although the end of the film announces that Wakanda will return, there is currently no officially announced sequel. Producer Nate Moore explained to the site Collider that he preferred to wait to see the scores of the second opus before advancing on the possibility of a third feature film:

“We really want to see how audiences will receive the film, and I think Ryan [Coogler] is very interested in seeing how the film will do in theaters before we decide. We have some ideas of what the third feature could be, if we can pull it off. But while waiting for the release, we remain a little superstitious, in a way. You don’t want to sell the bear pelt before you kill it, because you never know what might happen.”

There is little doubt that the new MCU film will be a hit (already $180 million after a week of release, more than Captain America: Civil War which was at 179 million), and therefore that Marvel is launching a sequel. So it’s probably only a matter of time before we hear from Black Panther 3.

Kevin Feige, the big boss of Marvel Studios, meanwhile left the door open in an interview with varietyas he usually does:“I go back to what I said when we decided to do Wakanda Forever after the loss of Chadwick [Boseman]. This mythology, this universe and these characters deserve to continue? I hope they will continue to exist after we are all gone and continue to evolve in film as they have in comics for over 50 years.”

What will Black Panther 3 be about?

Based on what revealed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the country of shuri is not done with the problems. On her land alone, tensions are likely to arise after M’Baku shows up to face the new queen of Wakanda in a duel in order to gain the throne. Furthermore, Namor will stop at nothing to bend Wakanda to his will and what he says about Shuri’s vulnerability seems to support that..

What do we know about the cast?

In view of the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Letitia Wright should logically return in the skin of Shuri, the queen of Wakanda and new Black Panther. It should be accompanied by Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Aneka (Michaela Coel), both Midnight Angels to whom we dedicated an article. Lupita Nyong’o should also return as Nakia, the Wakandan spy and mother of little Toussaint, the son of the late T’Challa. It would make sense for Winston Duke to continue playing the role of M’Baku, the leader of the Mountain Clan.

Will we see Tenoch Huerta in Namor again in a Black Panther ? Probably, her undersea country of Talokan is in tension with Wakanda, and her story is now closely intertwined with Shuri’s. In another plane, that of the Ancestors, it is possible to suppose that Angela Bassett resumes her character of Queen Ramonda in the form of a spirit, as did Michael B. Jordan in Wakanda Foreverembodying Kilmonger again (which we could also see again in the same way).

Who is making Black Panther 3?

Director of Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ryan Coogler is obviously the first person we think of for a third film. However, the director told variety have no plans at the moment :“I can tell you that I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do next as a writer and director.”

However, nothing says that Ryan Coogler is the choice of Marvel Studios for the third feature film on Black Panther. We will update this article as soon as we know more.

When is Black Panther 3 release date?

For the next three years, Marvel has already established a busy schedule. For now Black Panther: Wakanda Forever shouldn’t have a sequel until 2025, either after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars which should pose a new status quo to the MCU.

This is only theory, and Marvel Studios could very well create a surprise by upsetting its schedule to integrate a Black Panther 3. It has already been done recently with the series Armor Wars become a film that will have to find its niche in Marvel’s cinema release schedule.
